Disneyland Paris updates accessibility program, allowing customers to rate the autonomy of attractions

On December 3, 2021, International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Disneyland Paris will present a new accessibility program that will allow visitors with disabilities and special needs to experience parks based on their own assessment of independence.

With this update, Disneyland Paris will no longer determine access to attractions based on disability categories and guests will assess their own autonomy to decide which attractions they might experience.

“Our new accessibility program is a major step forward in our commitment to accessibility at Disneyland Paris, allowing each guest to experience the magic of Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park,” said Daniel Delcourt, Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, Disneyland Paris. “Our guests and our actors have always been at the heart of our approach to accessibility. Disneyland Paris is committed to listening and learning from our guests, cast members and accessibility experts to develop new standards of inclusion in the French theme park industry.

Disneyland Paris’ new accessibility program will:

  • Focus on customer autonomy
  • Increase the number of accessible attractions by reviewing priority and ease of access conditions and evacuation procedures
  • Remove the obligation for people with disabilities to be accompanied on attractions
  • Offer a 25% reduction to disabled people with an official disability document and to a potential attendant

“With the launch of a new accessibility program, Disneyland Paris is setting a new standard for best practice in how we think about accessibility by providing more individualized attention to each guest’s unique circumstances,” said Michaël Jeremiasz, a Paralympic. A key athlete and resort partner for many years, who continues to contribute knowledge to help improve the experience for guests with disabilities.

Disneyland Paris has invested in recent years to make the entire complex even more accessible to people with reduced mobility, while engaging in permanent dialogue with the main accessibility players to further push the boundaries of the inclusion of people with disabilities. .

The station is also focusing on equal opportunities for employees, continuing to recruit actors with disabilities for all types of roles based on their unique skills and needs. Actors with disabilities now represent 5.9% of all actors at the resort.
